Biography

Charbel Awad, MD, brings extensive experience in holistic women’s health care and minimally invasive surgery to Annandale OB/GYN, serving patients in Alexandria and Annandale, Virginia.

Dr. Awad began his professional education at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in biology. After graduation, Dr. Awad remained in Lebanon, enrolling at the University of Balamand where he received his Doctor of Medicine.

The next year, Dr. Awad moved to Virginia and completed a residency at Inova Fairfax Women’s Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. There, Dr. Awad served as academic chief resident earning the respect of his instructors and peers. In 2019, he earned the Outstanding Minimally Invasive Surgery Resident Award from the Society of Laparoscopic Surgery (SLS).

As a women’s health specialist, Dr. Awad offers a full suite of obstetric and gynecologic care. He loves working with women one-on-one and tailors treatment to his patients’ unique needs, preferences, and beliefs. Dr. Awad also specializes in minimally invasive surgical procedures including same-day discharge hysterectomies and other in-office procedures.

Dr. Awad is a strong advocate of shared decision-making and sets aside time to meet with and understand all of his patients’ individual concerns. Through face-to-face counseling and health education, Dr. Awad and his team promise quality, holistic, and patient-centered care.

When he isn’t working with patients, you can find Dr. Awad contributing his expertise to medical journals and research papers or speaking at national and international conferences.
