Neck Anti-Aging Lasers and Kybella

Sagging skin around your neck and jowls, or a double chin, can negatively impact your self-image. To regain confidence in the appearance of your neck, Dr. Anna Le and the team at Annandale Ob-Gyn recommend anti-aging laser skin tightening and Kybella® injection therapy. If you’d like to firm up sagging skin and banish extra chin fat, call one of the offices in Annandale or Alexandria, Virginia, or make an appointment online.

How do laser anti-aging treatments work?

Laser skin tightening for the neck is a non-invasive procedure that uses laser light energy to target the tissues below the surface of your skin, triggering cellular rejuvenation.

The gentle heat of the laser stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin. These proteins rebuild your skin’s youthful strength and elasticity over the next few weeks, resulting in firmer, tighter skin, and a firmer neck, chin, and jawline.

Which conditions can laser skin tightening address?

In addition to tightening the skin around your neck and chin, laser skin treatments can treat the following conditions:

  • Wrinkles
  • Dark spots and hyperpigmentation
  • Acne
  • Scarring

During your initial consultation, your Annandale Ob-Gyn skin expert will discuss all of your concerns with you and recommend the best treatments to address all of your needs.

How many laser neck treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed depends on your age, skin type, personal goals, and other individual factors. In most cases, a series of treatments is required to improve sagging skin and enhance the silhouette of your neck and jawline.

Your Annandale Ob-Gyn expert may recommend that you combine your laser neck treatment with Kybella injections to achieve optimal neck and chin contouring results.

What is Kybella?

Kybella is a prescription medication that can treat submental chin fat or double chin. Kybella works by injecting synthetic deoxycholic acid into the fat beneath your chin.

Deoxycholic acid occurs naturally in your body and is involved in breaking down fat cells. The synthetic version performs the same function — it destroys fat cells so they can no longer store fat deposits, reducing submental chin fat and streamlining the contour of your chin.

How many Kybella treatments will I need?

In most cases, 2-6 treatments spaced one month apart are needed for maximum reduction of submental chin fat. If you maintain a healthy lifestyle, your results will be permanent.

Is Kybella safe?

Kybella is the only injectable medication that’s FDA-approved to address submental chin fat. It’s considered to be quite safe by the medical community.

Following your Kybella treatment, you may notice some mild redness or swelling around the injection site, but this should resolve within a day or two. More serious side effects are rare.
