What is involved in a facial treatment?

A facial is a professional multi-step skin treatment designed to cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate your skin. Chemical peels can be combined with a facial for optimal skin revitalization.

Your custom facial treatment at Annandale Ob-Gyn includes a Visia® skin analysis, steam treatment, deep cleansing and exfoliation, a head and neck massage, and a series of masks, serums, and creams to address visible signs of aging and other skin concerns.

What are the benefits of an anti-aging facial?

A facial treatment at Annandale Ob-Gyn uses medical-grade skin care products to remove oils, toxins, and dead skin.

Your facial replenishes nutrients and improves circulation, leaving your skin healthy and refreshed with a lustrous glow. A facial can address the following skin concerns:

  • Clogged pores
  • Rough skin
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Dull skin
  • Sun damage, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation

A facial can also improve the appearance of mild acne scarring. For more severe age-related concerns or acne, your skin expert may recommend a chemical peel.

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a skin treatment that uses a chemical solution to cause the top layers of your skin to peel away, revealing the healthier, new skin layers underneath. Annandale Ob-Gyn offers three levels of peels to address various skin concerns:

Superficial peel
These mild peels use alpha hydroxy acid to create a gentle exfoliation of the outer skin layers of skin to brighten your complexion and smooth skin texture. A superficial peel might leave you with a little redness, but it doesn’t require actual downtime.

Medium peel
A medium peel typically uses glycolic or trichloroacetic acid to penetrate to the middle layers of your skin. Medium peels can improve age spots, fine lines, and acne. They require a few days for your skin to heal.

Deep peel
Deep chemical peels use stronger acids like phenol to achieve significant exfoliation in the middle layers of your skin.

Deep chemical peels can improve fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, acne scarring, and more. Deep peels may require sedation or anesthesia and have a recovery period of about two weeks.

Depending on the depth of your peel, you may require bandaging. Your expert will give you detailed instructions for at-home care following your peel.
