Biography
Dr. Payam Kashi, MD, PhD, is a biomedical researcher advancing women’s health through translational science and clinical innovation. Trained in reproductive physiology and molecular biology, his work connects groundbreaking discovery with improved surgical and fertility outcomes.
At Annandale OBGYN, Dr. Kashi directs research across gynecology, fertility, and minimally invasive surgery, supporting the practice’s mission to enhance women’s health at every stage of life.
Areas of Research
Minimally Invasive & Robotic Surgery
Dr. Kashi contributes to the advancement of robotic and laparoscopic techniques in gynecologic oncology, including single-site robot-assisted hysterectomy and abdominal cerclage placement. His studies focus on reducing recovery time, operative morbidity, while improving long-term outcomes for women undergoing benign or oncologic procedures.
Sentinel Lymph Node Mapping & Surgical Staging
His research evaluates sentinel lymph node mapping in high-grade endometrial and early-stage vulvar cancers to maintain oncologic safety while minimizing surgical morbidity.
Fertility & Reproductive Outcomes
Dr. Kashi co-authored work on fertility-sparing surgery for cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers, aligning surgical innovation with the preservation of reproductive potential.
Quality Improvement & Perioperative Outcomes
He has published on perioperative venous-thromboembolism prevention and universal inpatient palliative-care protocols, emphasizing safety, access, and the overall patient experience in gynecologic oncology.
Selected Publications
Fertility-sparing Surgery for Patients with Cervical, Endometrial, and Ovarian Cancers.
This study analyzes fertility-sparing strategies across major gynecologic cancers and reports favorable progression-free and overall survival outcomes in appropriately selected patients.
