Pre-Pregnancy Counseling

What is Pre-Pregnancy Counseling?

It is important to care for your health before you become pregnant. Our goal is to check for any potential risks to you and your baby before your pregnancy. Additionally, we will address any medical issues such as blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid or blood disorders before you get pregnant. We also make sure all your vaccinations are up to date, provide on-site pelvic ultrasound and annual women wellness exam to prepare you for your journey of becoming a mother.

We encourage you to become the healthier you both physically and emotionally before your pregnancy. You can get started by contacting Annandale Ob/Gyn to make an appointment and see one of our health care providers. We would be delighted to help answer any questions you may have and provide help and guidance.

What happens at your preconception counseling?

We will ask you about your reproductive history, medical and surgical history, current medications, family health history and home and work environment. We also check your weight, ask questions about your diet, caffeine intake, exercise and your life style. You will be encouraged to start taking prenatal vitamins.
